Ustrushana was a historically significant region in Central Asia, located between Sogdiana and Ferghana (modern-day Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). It was a semi-independent principality known for its unique cultural and political influences from Sogdian, Persian, and Turkic traditions.
One of the known rulers of Ustrushana was Satachar/Satachary, who likely ruled during the period of Arab expansion into Central Asia. The rulers of Ustrushana, called Afshins, maintained a semi-autonomous status while dealing with Arab forces and other regional powers, such as the Tangs and the Western Turks
