Description
Iranian Huns. Alkhan/Alkhon Huns (5th cent. AD)
AE bracteate (0.16 g, 16.5 – 17 mm)
Early bareheaded bust with strongly elongated head
A major step in the emergence of Alkhan identity is the removal of the Sasanian crown from the royal busts, to show the artificially-shaped bare head instead. A key element of this stylistic development is the ribbons attached to the necklace
Near VF. Extremely RARE
