Abbasid Revolution. Anonymous. 127-140 AH / 744-757 AD
During the Abbasid Revolution (746–750AD), the province of Sijistan (modern-day Sistan, Iran-Afghanistan border region) played a key role as part of Khorasan, where Abbasid forces, led by Abu Muslim, launched their rebellion against the Umayyad Caliphate. As Abbasid control expanded, they issued anonymous AE fals (copper coins) in various cities, including Sijistan, before formally establishing the Abbasid Caliphate in 132AH (750AD)
These anonymous fals were an important part of the transitional period, reflecting the growing influence of the Abbasids while avoiding direct claims of leadership before their complete victory
AE fals (3.20 g, 22 – 22.5 mm)
Struck in Sijistan
Near VF. Extremely RARE
