Description

Qarlughid. Nasir al-Din Muhammad (1249-1259 AD)

The Qarlughids were a minor Turkic dynasty that ruled parts of present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan during the 13th century. They emerged in the aftermath of the Mongol conquests and were vassals of the Mongol Empire.

Nasir al-Din Muhammad was a ruler of the Qarlughid dynasty, governing regions in northern India and Afghanistan under Mongol suzerainty.

Key Aspects of Nasir al-Din Muhammad’s Rule:
  • Mongol Vassalage: Like his predecessors, Nasir al-Din Muhammad ruled as a vassal of the Mongols, maintaining relative autonomy while acknowledging Mongol overlordship
  • Strategic Position: The Qarlughids controlled important trade routes between Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent, making them significant intermediaries in regional commerce
  • End of Qarlughid Rule: His rule marked the decline of the Qarlughid dynasty, as they were eventually absorbed by larger regional powers, including the Mongols and the Delhi Sultanate
