Description
Juchid (Khans of the Golden Horde). Jani Beg Khan (757-758AH)
Jani Beg Khan (1342–1357AD, corresponding to 757–758AH) was a ruler of the Golden Horde, a Mongol khanate that emerged from the fragmentation of the Mongol Empire. He was the son of Uzbek Khan, under whom the Golden Horde had reached its peak and had officially adopted Islam
Key Aspects of Jani Beg’s Rule:
- Consolidation of Power: He succeeded his father Uzbek Khan and continued policies that reinforced Islam as the state religion
- Expansion & Influence: He maintained the Horde’s dominance over its vassals, including the Grand Duchy of Moscow and other Russian principalities
- Trade & Economy: His reign coincided with flourishing trade along the Silk Road, strengthening economic ties with neighboring states
- Death & Succession Crisis: After his death in 1357AD, a period of instability and succession struggles followed, leading to the eventual decline of the Golden Horde
