Buwayhid. Adud al-Dawla w. title ‘Adud al-Dawla, as vassal of Rukn al-Dawla
Adud al-Dawla (949–983AD) was one of the most powerful rulers of the Buwayhid (Buyid) dynasty, a Persianate dynasty that controlled much of Iran and Iraq during the 10th–11th centuries. Before he became the supreme ruler, he ruled as a vassal under his father, Rukn al-Dawla (935–976AD)
During this period, he issued coins with the title “‘Adud al-Dawla”, acknowledging his subordination to Rukn al-Dawla. These coins represent an early phase of his reign, before he consolidated power over the entire Buwayhid realm
