Sultan Ahmad, also known as Sultan Ahmad Mirza, was a Timurid ruler who reigned from 873 to 899AH (corresponding to 1468–1494AD). He was the son of Abu Sa’id Mirza, a prominent Timurid ruler, and the brother of Sultan Husayn Bayqara and Umar Shaikh Mirza II (the father of Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire)
Sultan Ahmad ruled during a time of fragmentation within the Timurid dynasty. After Abu Sa’id Mirza’s death, his sons divided the empire. Ahmad took control of Samarkand but was in continuous conflict with his brothers and cousins over territory and influence
