🔹 Jalal al-Din’s Rule and Resistance:
Jalal al-Din is known for his bravery and resistance against the Mongol onslaught:
He assembled a loyal force and defeated a Mongol detachment near Parwan (Afghanistan) in 1221
However, he was later defeated by Genghis Khan himself at the Battle of the Indus River, where he famously leapt on horseback into the river to escape, a feat that reportedly impressed Genghis Khan
Jalal al-Din fled to India, spending time in the Punjab and the Sindh region. He attempted to rebuild his power base in exile
Later he returned to Iran and Iraq, waging a guerrilla-like war against Mongol allies and rivals such as the Seljuks of Rum, the Abbasids, and local rulers
