Anonymous Western Turk countermark “Simurgh”
This countermark with a Senmurv (Simurgh) – is a mythical creature from Persian tradition, often depicted as a hybrid of a bird, dog, and lion. It appears in Sasanian, Islamic, and even later Central Asian coinage, sometimes as a symbol of divine protection or royal authority.
Appears on drachms from mints in Khorasan in 40-60AH. It was usually applied to Arab-Sasanian drachms, whereas countermarked Sasanian coins are much rarer
