Issue of Sasanian King of Kings Peroz I (457-484AD) with Hephthalite countermarks associated with his ransom in 476/7 AD
Once defeated and captured by Hephthalites king Peroz was forced to ransom himself. The Hephthalites demanded “30 mule carts” of silver. Peroz paid 20 carts, mostly in silver coins, and had to send to Hephthalites his son Kavadh as a pledge for remaining 10, which he paid a couple of years later
