The Mongol conquest of Bukhara was a pivotal event during Genghis Khan’s first invasion of the Khwarazmian Empire in 1219–1220AD

Genghis Khan reportedly entered the city and made a famous speech at the main mosque, saying something like: “I am the punishment of God. If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you”
