AV imitation of Byzantine gold solidus of emperor Anastatius or Theodosius
0.41 g, 21 mm
Such thin gold bracteates are said to be burial tokens, uniface burial piece derived from a gold solidus of the late Roman emperors. Gold burial pieces were normally placed on the corpse during the burial, or attached to its shroud or other ornaments
