Barakzai Dynasty. Dost Muhammad, 1st reign at Kabul (1241-1255AH)
Dost Muhammad Khan (1826–1839, 1843–1863) was the founder of the Barakzai dynasty in Afghanistan. He took control of Kabul in 1826, marking the decline of the Durrani Empire and the rise of the Barakzai rulers. His reign saw conflicts with the British (First Anglo-Afghan War, 1839–1842) and efforts to consolidate power within Afghanistan
The silver rupees minted in Kabul (1241 AH / 1825–1826AD) are some of the earliest coins issued under his rule, before he formally declared himself Emir of Afghanistan. These rupees follow the Durrani-style silver coinage, but with modifications reflecting the new dynasty
